This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and training needs of administrative and technical employees at Al Sharqiyah University in the Sultanate of Oman, with the aim of improving their job performance. The descriptive analytical approach was used to analyze the data collected through an electronic questionnaire distributed to a random sample of 131 employees out of the total number of employees. The research results showed that the level of training programs and the level of training needs at the university in general is high. However, the study indicated that there are some aspects that can be developed. The most important recommendations and suggestions that emerged from this research were: First, diversifying training programs. The university administration must work to provide diverse training programs that meet the different needs of employees and contribute to developing their skills and abilities to solve problems, and accurately identify training needs. Second, the administration must determine the level of training needs for each employee based on the nature of his work, responsibilities and tasks to ensure the effectiveness of training programs. Third, developing comprehensive and sufficient training plans. The university must develop comprehensive training plans that cover all aspects of job performance, with a focus on developing basic and technical skills. Fourth, linking training to performance evaluation, i.e. training programs must be linked to employee performance indicators to identify challenges and strengths and direct training more effectively and efficiently. Fifth, early planning for training. The university must plan its training needs early to ensure the availability of the necessary resources and implementation of programs at the appropriate time.
