Abstract

The current research aims to measure the styleof ideal thinking among students of the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Education for Pure Sciences Ibn Al-Haitham,and the extent of ideal thinking according to the academic year of the university stage. To achieve the research objectives, the descriptive approach was followed. The students of the Chemistry Department, for the four grades (first, second, third, fourth), was determined as the research community.A group was selected from each grade to be a sample for the current research. A tool was prepared to measure ideal thinking among the research sample, where a test was setfor it. Moreover, its validity, reliability, and all its psychometric properties were found, so that it would be ready for application. When it was applied, and its data were statistically unloaded using the statistical package (SPSSv.22 ), it was found that the students had an intermediatelevel of ideal thinking, and this is a good indicator. Also, the fourth-grade students had a higher level than the rest of the grades, meaning that ideal thinking was directly relatedto the academic grade. In light of these results, some conclusions were reached, including, for example, that the ideal thinking among students of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Ibn Al-Haytham, Chemistry Department, was at an intermediatelevel. Some recommendations were also made, including, for example, helping students with low ideal thinking to raise it, and some proposals were made to apply the ideal thinking test to departments other than the Chemistry Department.
