Abstract

The study aimed to explore the objectives and significance of interdisciplinary partnership in academic supervision, enhance faculty members’ awareness of its value, and identify the obstacles to its implementation at the College of Da‘wah and Fundamentals of Religion at Umm Al-Qura University. The descriptive analytical method was employed, with a questionnaire as the main tool for data collection, targeting a sample of 152 faculty members. Data were analyzed using the SPSS program. The results indicated that interdisciplinary partnership contributes to broadening interaction among faculty members from different specializations, provides opportunities to activate interdisciplinary studies, and helps overcome procedural challenges, thereby supporting sustainable community development. The study also highlighted the need to establish research centers specialized in interdisciplinary studies within the College of Da‘wah and Fundamentals of Religion and other colleges of social or human sciences, as well as to promote partnership culture through guides, brochures, training programs, and strategic plans. In addition, specialized training courses should be implemented to support faculty members in adopting such practices. The study presented a proposed framework for activating interdisciplinary partnership in academic supervision between the College of Da‘wah and Fundamentals of Religion and other humanities departments at Umm Al-Qura University, including objectives, requirements, mechanisms, obstacles, and ways to overcome them. It further recommended that the university leadership recognize the scientific and developmental benefits of this framework in order to develop religious and intellectual studies in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
